Framing Project Iteration 2

Now that I have narrowed it down a little more::

Second Iteration of Idea 3: Emoticontrol

Throughout the course of history, scientists have not found ways to completely beat depression. Depression has been a mental illness that has struck the USA hard and no one knew how to 100% control it. But in 2045, scientists have found a safe and reliable way of controlling you emotions 100% of the time without any harmful side effects. This project was funded by the government in order to find cures for depression. As a result, the government was able to a chip called the Emoticontrol that would directly control the limbic system. The Limbic System is the part of the brain responsible for emotions. The government thought it would be most effective if scientists were able to tackle the entire Limbic System as a whole. In 2045, the government were finally able to create a chip that would be planted on your brain that wouldn’t cause any side effects. They were able to use the concepts of Electroconvulsive Therapy and apply it to their chip. The microchip was extremely tiny but is able to send electric waves targeted directly to the Limbic System. The reason that Electroconvulsive Therapy didn’t work before is because they were sending shock waves to the entire brain that would cause a lot of harmful side effects. The government finally was able to create a device that would not only stop depression, but be able to control your emotions all the time.

However, what started as something meant for good ultimately turned into a device that took away everything that made us human. They saw the extreme usefulness of the chip and thought it was the perfect opportunity to create a society that was only happy and where people would only react positively to everything that a government does. We are now in a society where sadness, frustration, and any negative emotion ceases to exist. There have a great strives in overall human advancement, however the human race has been reduced to robot-like creatures. Everyone has become the same person expressing the same emotions. What it means to be human is no longer an answer that can be found within this time.

The object that is going to be a setback is a phone showing the app that is used to control the emotions. The app will be displaying the settings that are made to make humans happy all the time.
